I need someone to invent this for me: a search function for a server/ ftp client. I would love to "search for" and locate, say, all index.html files on a server.

I believe this has already been accomplished, although searching an FTP server from remote will take time and is an ugly hack for an old (broken some would say) protocol..

you can search from remote for all files or folders matching something..
